The alternating climate between wet and dry periods has important effects on the hydrology and therefore on niche-based processes of water bodies in tropical areas. Additionally, assemblages of microorganism can show spatial patterns, in the form of a distance decay relationship due to their size or life form. [ES] En las últimas décadas han surgido diversos enfoques para dar respuesta a los desafíos que plantea la gestión del agua. Este artículo presenta, de manera introductoria, las principales aproximaciones teóricas desde las cuales se está analizando en la actualidad el uso y la gobernanza del agua: las corrientes neoinstitucionalistas, la teoría de los recursos comunes y la perspectiva del empoderamiento que se relaciona con la ecología política. La descripción de estos enfoques sirve para contextualizar las distintas aportaciones que se presentan en este monográfico sobre el estudio de los territorios hidrosociales, cuyos principales resultados se exponen sucintamente.

The outcomes of the discussion in the four working sessions showed that although there is an urgent need to improve soil carbon management and stocks, and despite the existing knowledge about good agricultural practices to achieve this goal, these are not put into practice effectively and globally. The apparent contradiction has to do with a mismatch of policies at different societal and geographical scales, and the low policy profile of SOC. All participants agreed in the need to bring SOC into the core of environmental policies at all levels and to improve the governance of policy actions by addressing the stakeholders in a more effective way. Black carbon (BC) aerosols influence the Earth's atmosphere and climate, but their microphysical properties, spatiotemporal distribution, and long-range transport are not well constrained. This study presents airborne observations of the transatlantic transport of BC-rich African biomass burning (BB) smoke into the Amazon Basin using a Single Particle Soot Photometer (SP2) as well as several complementary techniques. Dabisko purva ekosistēmu atjaunošanas ietvaros 2006. gadā Cenas tīrelī veikta dambju sistēmas izbūve uz meliorācijas grāvjiem, kas būtiski ietekmēja purva hidroloģiskos un ekoloģiskos apstākļus. Par darba mērķi izvirzīts noskaidrot parastās priedes audžu vecuma struktūru un atjaunošanās dinamiku pēc dambju izbūves uz divām Skaista ezera salām.Izvirzītā hipotēze apstiprinājās daļēji, jo 2006. gadā uz meliorācijas grāvju sistēmas izbūvēto dambju rezultātā paaugstinātais ūdens līmenis ir negatīvi ietekmējis uz Skaista ezera augošo parasto priežu audžu struktūras.
